Dear Supporters----
I want to thank everyone who contributed time, money, gas, whatever to my campaign. I have felt so much support for concerns that are on my mind, from so many people, that i continue to have hope that we can reshape this world closer to our hearts' desire.
It is true that i am disappointed for all of you, not to have brought home the bacon as it were.  However,  by going door-to-door in various neighborhoods that i rarely visit, i have learned a lot of things about the concerns of folks in New Paltz, and just about the physical geography of my relatively new home.  I hope to make use of this new information in a continuing attempt to be useful to the New Paltz community.
So thank you all so very much.  Keep up the good fight, knowing that while we are not in the majority, we are just a bit before our time, the yeast in the dough, which is bound to rise.

Focus on a Sustainable Future for New Paltz

1- Affordable Housing:

  •  Codify the practice of requiring a % of affordable housing in developments over a set size.
  • Define "affordable" to reflect New Paltz economic realities.
  • Reduce traffic and emissions by making it possible for New Paltz's workforce to live within walking or biking distance of work.

2-Town/ Village/ Campus Co-operation:

  • For example: The Village wants to reduce the taxes for firefighters but needs Town co-operation since many New Paltz firefighters live outside the Village in the Town.

3-Recruit  Basic, Environmentally Friendly, Industry:

  •  e.g., Green building
  • and Local food processing

4-Reduce Our Contribution to Global Warming/ Climate Change:

  • Improved  and less confusing bus service
  • Safer biking and walking to shop
  • Biodiesel from used fry oil in heavy equipment

5-Preserve Open Space:

  • Wetlands for pure water for future drinking and cooking
  • Farmlands for food production
  • Woodlands to convert CO2 to O2
  • Viewsheds for increased tourist industry when airfares become too expensive for New Yorkers'  vacations
